Rancho Dorado is a highly sought after upscale community in the southwest region of San Marcos, California. Residents enjoy beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and surrounding landscape.
The Rancho Dorado subdivision was built between 2001 and 2003. It is comprised of 283 lots with homes that have three to four bedrooms and living space that ranges from 2,086 to 4,327 square feet. The lots are normally between 5,000 square feet to more than an acre. This community is located ten minutes from the beach and is near the Carlsbad border.
Rancho Dorado is considered to be a very walkable neighborhood with sidewalks on every street and the City of San Marcos trail system running throughout the area. Commuters especially like this community because of its easy access to Highway 78 and Interstate 5.
This community is served by the San Marcos Unified School District which is one of San Diego County’s largest. Students may attend highly ranked facilities like Carillo Elementary School, San Elijo Middle School, and San Marcos High School. There are several charter and private schools like the High Tech facilities, Saint Joseph Academy, and Valley Christian School. Palomar College is situated in the northern area of the city and has around 30,000 students. It offers over 250 certificate programs and associate degrees.
Residents have access to the Simmons Park which is a great place to ride bikes. It also has basketball courts, playgrounds, and picnic areas. You’ll find restaurants and stores in the San Marcos downtown area. There are several centers like the San Marcos Town Center, the Creekside Marketplace, Grand Plaza, and the Nordahl Marketplace.
The St. Mark Executive Course is open from 7 a.m. to sunset and is accessible to the public. It offers a par 58 at 2,700 yards and is described as having a lot of golf for the amount of time it takes.
